: Brian LeClercq for Oswego Village President

Promises Made, Promises Kept
The night I was sworn in, I promised I would keep you in mind every time I voted.  I've kept that promise as your Village President, and I will continue to do so.

Promise Made:  Smart, Managed Growth
Promise Kept:  Senior housing development; continued work to bring Metra to Oswego; continued work on green energy facility

It's time to control our future growth in a smart way, giving our schools and infrastructure time to catch up to current demand and be prepared for future demand. Our infrastructure needs MUST be at the forefront. Controlling growth means the developers have a part in the process, they don’t run the process. That’s our job. We need to throw away the rubber stamp and invite diversity.

We can do this by attracting more corporate and selective high-quality industrial companies to our town. Balanced development is imperative for a community to thrive. It creates jobs that actually support families. People also shop and eat where they work, which boostsour local economy. This will increase our property and sales tax base, bring the higher quality jobs to our community that actually pay enough to support a family, and NOT increase the demands on our schools, our roads, and our police and fire departments.

Promise Made:  Responsible Government
Promise Kept: Competitive bids on I.T., business and vehicle purchases

Responsible government allows for open and honest dialogue. EVERYONE has a voice and gets heard. It also means getting the best bang for your buck. It is incumbent upon us to seek proposals from several vendors, not just our current vendors. This “Best Practices” approach is used by successful corporations.

Promise Made:  Cooperation with Our Neighbors
Promise Kept:  Joliet Boundary Agreement

By forging and maintaining positive relationships with our neighboring communities, we can put an end to developers and retailers pitting one community against another when creating new development agreements. We also need to ensure that development agreements are truly equitable for the Village of Oswego by having open and honest dialogue with the other governmental agencies that are impacted by the development so that impact fees help keep our taxes lower. It's time to ask the most of the developers and not the least.

Promise Made:  Team with Other Local Agencies for Improvement

Promise Kept:  Joined with Oswegoland Park District for improved rates for employee health insurance; worked with Oswego School District to secure STATE funding for Route 71 improvement project; ensured police pension is fully funded

Everything we approve impacts several other governmental agencies: Oswego School District, Oswego Public Library District, Oswegoland Park District, Oswego Police and Fire Protection Districts, and Kendall County. We can no longer pretend we live in a vacuum - we need to be accountable to all residents of our area, and to those who serve and protect us.

Promise Made:  Open, Honest Dialog
Promise Kept:  "A good example set on Open Meetings", Ledger-Sentinel 5/14/2009
"LeClercq should be commended....Since his election as village president, he has said repeatedly he wants the board and the rest of village government to conduct the people's business within public view.  "Sunshine is the best disinfectant." he has said on many occasions."
